Golden Valley Tree Park Balingup

Golden Valley Tree Park is a sixty-hectare arboretum just outside the popular Southwest town of Balingup in Western Australia. The Park is heritage listed and is the largest arboretum in Western Australia. It is a great place for a walk in some of the best rural countryside in the South West. The Park is organized into two main collections. The World collection contains a variety of trees from many nations. Many trees have identification labels and the collection contains many rare and unusual trees including forty different species of oak. Many of the trees in this collection are famous for their form, fruit and nuts, and stunning autumn colour. The world collection is a long meandering series of trails through hills and valley. The Australian collection includes a diverse range of trees from a variety of Australian habitats including Wattles, Mallees, Sandalwood, Rainforest, and Sheoak species. The park hosts over 3000 individual trees and some date back over 100 years. The Park was originally farmland and the oldest trees were planted during this period. At the entrance to the Park is the original Golden Valley Homestead which was restored in the 90’s. You can explore the gardens around the homestead. The Park is open daily and entry is free. The Bibbulman Track traverses the site.
