Boranup Forest Photography – Landscape Photography of Western Australia
Boranup is famous for its magnificent Karri tree forest that lies between the coastline and Caves Road, close to Margaret River and Hamelin Bay.
The huge towering Karri trees are a stunning sight to see along the popular coastal drive. Karri trees have a smooth light-coloured bark with earthy grey to orange patches on their trunks and elevated canopies. Walking amongst them is like being in another world. You can also take a leisurely drive through Boranup Drive, which is a narrow unsealed road that winds its way through the forest for about 20km before re-joining to Caves Rd. Along the drive are entrances to several 4-wheel-drive tracks, as well as the Boranup Campground and Boranup Lookout. The lookout is situated on top of a hill and gives a great view over the forest and the coast to Hamelin Bay.
It’s especially beautiful with the golden late-afternoon light glowing through the trees. Being surround by the amazing Karri trees with the sound of native birds in the background and the smell of eucalypts is what makes Boranup Forest so popular with tourists and locals alike.
