Quinninup Falls Photos – Canvas and Photo prints, Western Australia
Quinninup Falls is a waterfall in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in Western Australia, known for its scenic beauty and location and is a highlight of the Cape to Cape Track. The best way to get to Quinninup Falls is to drive to Moses Rock carpark in Wilyabrup and then head north on the Cape to Cape track. The track is well signposted and the falls are also indicated as a detour from the track. The walk to the falls will take 30 to 40 minutes for most people and is approximately 4km return. It’s a popular spot for hikers and nature lovers, offering a tranquil escape and opportunities for wildlife observation. The falls are particularly impressive during the wetter months, cascading over rocks into a pool below. It can be difficult to approach the falls when in full flow after heavy rains due to the spray that comes off the 10m drop. The trail is quite wet and muddy during winter, and appropriate footwear should be worn. A raised walkway has been installed over some sensitive environmental areas towards the beginning of the walk which reduces damage from foot traffic and makes the walk a lot easier for many. Towards the end of the walk is a reasonably steep sandy decline that descends to a area of quite compressed red soil that leads up to the falls. A reasonable level of fitness is best for navigating the relatively short but steep sandy approach to the falls. Visitors can get quite close to the falls along narrow sandy tracks that lead to rocky outcrops that face the falls. Special care should be taken as this area is potentially quite hazardous and children should be closely supervised. Quinninup Falls holds special cultural and spiritual significance to the local Wadandi people, and visitors are asked to be respectful of the site’s cultural heritage.
