Fitzgerald River National Park Photos – Landscape Photography of Western Australia

Locations

Fitzgerald River National Park is one of Australia’s natural gems hidden in WA’s deep south, approximately 180km NE of Albany. The nearly 330,000 hectare park is significant for its diverse landscapes and bountiful flora species, many being unique to the park.

Rolling plains, rugged peaks, colourful breakaways and picturesque inlets, bays and beaches overshadowed by rocky headlands are just a handful of the natural attractions you can expect to see. Southern Right whales can be seen during winter sheltering with their calves close to shore and are a popular attraction to the area. There’s plenty of walks to do as well, including the Sepulcralis Hill inland trails and the climb to East Mount Barren, as well as No Tree Hill. Mt Maxwell and West Mt Barren boast colourful wildflower and stunning coastal scenery as well.

From the Western side of the park is Pabelup Drive which provides access to the scenic coastal scenery and well-known whale watching location, Point Ann. Hamersley Drive meanders through the parks Eastern boundary and through to Hamersley Inlet. Many of the main points of interest can be accessed through this entrance including East Mount Barren, Barrens Lookout, Barrens Beach, East Mylies Beach, Mylies Beach, Cave Point, Four Mile Beach and West Beach. You can also camp at the Four Mile Campground or at St Mary’s Inlet within the park and there are seasonal 4WD tracks allowing even more access to the area’s natural beauty.
